Enthusiast Info Hub

Postby cornelious0_0 on Wed Feb 17, 2010 9:39 pm

As promised on Episode 18 of the podcast I'm going to start putting together a general point of reference for information regarding enthusiast system building and overclocking. For the most part the original post will contain a (constantly updating) collection of links to various "how to" guides and information sources around the internet that I feel contain quality information that I'd stand by myself.

Don't be alarmed by the links, I'll be using tinyurl.com to shorten the sizes of the urls...don't worry...I'm not sending you anywhere R rated. ;)

I always want to make clear the point that neither myself nor DogHouse are liable for your overclocking endeavors, use the available information within your means and be sure to ask lots of questions along the way.

Be sure to check back often, I won't necessarily be adding new posts to notify people of updates as I add to and refine this collection.

Good stuff, this is as good a time as any to let everyone know that any articles posted by other users will be added to the original post to keep everything organized and condensed.

This isn't just MY info hub, it belongs to everyone and will continue to grow day by day as more people take interest and also have the desire to help others and raise awareness.

Doghouse Systems Userbars

Postby ZekeTheSquirrel on Thu Mar 25, 2010 12:29 pm

Here are some basic userbars to help represent your love for Doghouse Systems everywhere you go on the internet. These are the current models. If you would like one made for a past model, please just send me a private message, and I'll get one done up as soon as I get the time to. I can also send you the Photoshop file used to create these if you wish to customize your own.

::NOTE::
Please save these files and upload them to your own image host so that we don't burn through my bandwidth, thanks.

The only problem with link shortening tools such as tiny url is that they aren't always permanent addresses. Your best bet is to link to the source directly, and just use the wonderful [url] tags provided by the board. Something like this:
Code: Select all
[url = http://google.com]OMG it's Google![/ url] (without all the spaces)

And what this gives you is a nice short link, even if the website address is super long:
OMG it's Google!

Oh boy, looks like some heavy reading that will take away from my WoW time, but will no doubt be well worth it.

Thanks for your work all. :ugeek:

Any suggestions for sites to help with overclocking of AMD CPUs? Noticed the ones for Intel chips. Also, what about the Nvidia 9 series GPUs? I know I can just start tweaking settings but since I'm new the the OC thing I just want to make sure I understand what things are doing and not fry my system right off.

I also remember on one of the last 2 eps of the podcast that you mentioned some benchmarking and other tools to test the different components to make sure that your new settings will be stable. I'll listen to it again but I was wondering if you could mention the few that you use.

Thanks!

For sure, I'll probably get around to posting my own list of personal fav's in the next day or so.

I'd get to it tonight but I've got a system to finish building for a client before I take on much else. ;)

I'm very sorry for taking so long to get around to updating the listings...been beyond busy with work and blogging lately. My plan is to have all suggested articles posted to the list before the next episode of the podcast goes live...but hopefully much sooner.
